Hard water and my hair

We have VERY hard water here, and my hair is feeling the effects of it. Is there anything I can do??

We dont have a water softener. That would have been the obvious choice

We rent also. No chance of us buying one either.

I used to have well water and the iron in it would make my hair red and kinda stiff feeling. I would do a beer rinse once a month but I also hears apple cider vinager works well.

With a shower there is no other way than a machine. If it was a bathtub, you can add borax and that removes the hardness, if you are going to do this look it up first! Is your water well, or city?
