Oh Leyla, I am so sorry to hear he (and you) had such a rough time and things are not going so well with his recovery. Will be keeping fingers crossed he picks up soon. I can remember how knocked up I felt after having my wisdom teeth out. Not nice!

Thanks Barbara! :hugs Yes, I recently had a big molar removed from my mouth and wow, I didn't feel so well myself for a few days, had pain for weeks! So I would imagine because these teeth were so much deeper than the tiny ones he lost last year, he is going to have more trouble. He's still snoozing away under a pile of blankies on the couch right now. He should be ok, but just in case, I may call the vet this morning. It's not uncommon for some dogs to take a few days to fully return.

I obviously haven't been getting alerts on thread updates either, except when Kim just gave me a mention.

I've just noticed your earlier posts with a photo of Lollie and info on his breeding etc. He is gorgeous! What a cutie. So sad that he is having such terrible dental problems and that other dogs of his breed are all prone to it. Really hope he is feeling better soon.

Oh no Leyla, poor little Lollie :hugs I hope with a little time now he’s feeling better. Sounds like a good way to spend the day wrapped up on the couch. Those anaesthetic’s sure are tough on older dogs :( Fingers crossed the silver will help him along. It’s awful he’s had to go through this but at least those nasty teeth are out now. Such a shame when I know you have spent all that time & effort on trying keeping those teeth good for him. Mac has never been good with his teeth either. Not so bad he’s had to have them out yet but look atrocious. Kipper on the other hand who was fed the exact same diet as Mac had lovely teeth right up until the day she was put to sleep. Just goes to show teeth quality sure can be genetic. Keeper on the other hand has Hollywood teeth that folk pay a fortune for in fancy clinics. I’m hoping with how his are now they stay like that & don’t go manky like Mac’s.

Hoping for a quick recovery now for Lollie and :hugs to you as I know you will still be worrying! :hugs

Thanks Barbara, :hugs he sure is my baby! Some of these pure bred dogs, no matter the breed, get so over bred and of course with each generation the problem grows on itself. What can you do, I just keep loving him no matter what! :D But it still might kill me, all the stress!! :barnie :lol:

Thanks Kim! :hugs Yes, this is what I am thinking too, he is 9 1/2 years old, not that this is too old, but every dog is different. He might be a tad better? I asked him if he wanted something to eat and he hopped down pretty quick off that couch and pranced over to the kitchen. :lol: I only gave him a small portion though. He ate it and plopped himself back on the couch in the same position with the same look on his face. I did give him one of his pain killers, he has an open prescription for Rimadyal an anti inflammatory and pain killer for his arthritis. It's use as needed, so I figured he needed it! :D And I think he does feel a bit better. Food is staying down, he is drinking and he did go outside and do some "business" by himself. (He has a doggie door that he can come and go by himself into a fenced off area).

So, all in all, I think he will get better each day. In a couple of days, he will be back to his old self and won't remember a thing. I am SO glad I jumped on this, I only noticed 1 tooth being a tad loose, I had NO idea more in the back were loose and that infected! And hopefully I can at least slow the process down or eliminate the tooth loss of the rest of the teeth.

I will keep everyone updated!! Lollie says Thank You for the love!! :) :hugs

I think fall is coming early, a few nights ago for 2 nights in a row it was 39 degrees Fahrenheit here, thats 3.8 Celsius for those on the metric system. :cool: Holy Crow was it cold!! :eek:

@rebrascora

Hi Barbara! Have you been on your little jolly to Ian’s sister’s yet? If so I hope Zak loaded ok! Sounds like he was being a real monkey there getting away from you but good to hear he headed back to the field. Always scary when then they head off loose!

Arthur sounds just as I expected! I’m sure you will be able to get on top of him though and get him on the right track.
It was the same when Harry first came to the farm. He was a hat rack & seriously lethargic. He’d had a let down period after his racing career finished but he wasn’t looked after well at all. As you say keep em lean for a reason. To keep them quiet! I’m just grateful he had nice owners who wanted him to have good home and they didn’t let him stay in that pitiful place for too long. They even said if they had seen him sooner (they were elderly owners) they would have found a new home much more quickly. But I guess a super fit lean racehorse going from all that food for racing to a flap of hay a day is going to make them look like a hat rack pretty quick. Took a while and it’s still sometimes a battle but he got meaty in the end & his personality sure did come out!

No flags again for me, not that H is complaining!
If I don’t catch you before, have a fab weekend!

Kim xx
