Hi, this is my first time hatching duck eggs, or any eggs for that matter! Today is day 28 and I’m starting to get a little nervous as there is no movement or pips or anything g yet in any of my 5 eggs. I have read a lot about ducks being slow so I’m trying to keep calm. I candle all 5 on day 25 and they were all moving, most we’re getting pretty full inside the egg and one was completely filling the egg I was convinced that one was going to hatch early. My question is do I just leave them for now or am I best to candle them so check for any internal pips, I’m just worried about opening up the incubator as iv seen lots of people saying you shouldn’t.
Any help would be much appreciated

I open my incubator quite a few times during lockdown with no problems. If they were mine, I'd give them a quick candle to see if they have internally pipped or are just shadowing.

What's the temperature and humidity in your incubator?

Oh no😢, The first 3 are all one egg that was the worst looking one and then the other 2 I didn’t take pictures of the last 2. Any idea what could have gone wrong?

:hugs I think they all have passed, but pictures can be deceiving so you may wait a couple of days first before pitching just to be sure.

No clue, sometimes they just give up, what breed are these? How do they smell?

I think they are magpie duck, little black and white ones, I’m not to sure if that’s the correct breed name though
That is the name of a breed. well, this is just too bad but maybe you'll still get a couple to hatch. Are you sure about the day? Day 1 starts 24 hours after you put the eggs in the incubator.

Perfect ok I’ll have a little look, the humidity has been between 65-70 for the past 3 days and the temp on my digital thermometer has been between 37.7 and 38.0 degrees Celsius but my normal thermostat says about 37.0, the incubator is set to about 37.5 so I’m not 100% but I’m guessing it’s roughly between 37-38

Great, let us know what you see! Take a picture if you can.
I’m a little worried now, I feel like they don’t look normal 3 out of the 5 air cells look strange but there want anything inside them, also around the edge of the air cell looked yellow, the egg outside also had a slight hollow tinge to it where as the air cell looked more white! And one also had a tiny bruise on it, the other 2 but had big clear air cells.
These are the pictures I could get
