Please help. I am trying to find a hatchery that has small order deals for silkies. I have looked over a bunch of sites but cant find the right one. Any suggestions. I am also looking for small orders for laying breeds.

Try Meyer or My Pet Chicken.

If you order for a shipment date after March, and you have a semi-warm area code, you can get as few as 3. At MPC they sex the bantams.

Silkies are great brooders. Wyandotte's are good brooders, as are they good layers. Cochins, along with Silkies, are lousy layers, but go broody frequently.

Whichever hatchery you choose, you can scoot on over to Meyer and look at that breed's page for how broody they are, and there is also a breed list on MPC where you can find the info.

Ideal Poultry does not have a min chick qty, but they do have a $25 min order. Shipping is also very reasonable.
I have heard Ideal is sold out till May, I would still call them.

Just a heads up, in case you weren't aware. Hatcheries frequently send packing peanuts(males for warmth) with small chick orders.
