Hatching day 25 ( Second time lucky)

Some Saxony eggs and some Cayuga eggs Its really strange how one has hatched out so much earlier than the rest? I can't get my head around it!

I've only just set my first eggs, so I'm not real familiar with it, but I've heard of some pretty big spreads between hatches.

And yes, it does help the rest if you talk to them (or peep at them) from outside the incubator. It keeps them motivated if there are no ducklings in the incubator to peep and encourage them to come out. ^-^

Thank you!! He is so cheeky and full of energy today.. He must have needed a good nights sleep.

We could hear tapping at the egg last night but there is nothing now. I hope it hasn't died trying to get out when I could have helped

It's probably just resting. Hatching is a very long process and they rest alot between steps. They usually take about 24 hours between each step (internal pip, then external pip, then starting to unzip). So, I wouldn't worry just yet!

I hope that's the case! No more hatched yet! So spending time with the single duckling so he's not lonely!

Am I okay to open up the incubator to fill up water and put a wet paper towel in or will the duckies shrink wrap??
