Hatching egg

It looks like you broke the vein, and quite a bit of blood was lost.

If it was peeping, likely it had already done an internal pip, so the egg was pretty close to hatch.

But here’s what you can try anyway...dab what exposed mebrane you can with some coconut oil or antibiotic cream (without the painkiller) Stick the egg in a large gallon sized ziplock bag, put in a small square of damp paper towel (wring it out as best as you can) and zip it up with plenty of air.

place it in the brooder where its the warmest, preferable around 99F, but no warmer. if you have a thermometer, put it in the bag with the egg to monitor the temperature... now all you can do is wait....

open up the corner of the bag a smidge once every few hours to let some fresh air in, and let some humidity out.

In the future, do candle the eggs before you try to break them open. Usually candling will give you enough insight to know whether the egg is alive.

or if for whatever reason you don’t have a light on yourself and must absolutely open up a potentially viable egg ...(phone light will suffice usually). Open the egg verrry carefully from the fat end.

Here is a great article on assisted hatching...

It’s doing really well. It was out this morning. It’s up and moving around and I watched it get some water. I’ll be keeping a close eye on it the next couple days. Attached pic was early this morning
