I hope it doesn't come back with them wanting to take birds

And I soooo DIDN'T say this

They "may" want all poultry on site for fear of cross contamination no matter what you swear about bio security

Trust me. That's been in the back of my mind the whole time. I even considered bringing a few of the other birds but didn't want them in the same car. Couldn't get a vet to come out either. :( I think I'd fall to pieces if they took all of my birds. I've worked hard on my stock to achieve what I have. I'd be devastated.

Good golly was today ever an eventful day. Four kids all morning, then took the boys to my brother after watching his kids, went to the house for the inspection, got G's watch battery change, learned that the other jewelery store was robbed just before I went, then ate so much dinner at mom's house that I thought I swallowed a boulder. All while waiting to hear about his job! Talk about having fivethousand things on the mind at once! At least the dealership took him to work and picked him up while the car was inspected so that was one less thing to worry about for me. Whew! Bedtime for the old fart! I hope everyone gets their chickens in great shape!

Ayeupchuck, any news on the bresse? :(

So I didn't want to damper spirits yesterday since everyone seemed to be in such a great mood. Some beautiful birds posted! I had a long tough one yesterday.

So I had to have one of the two cockerels euthanized. He's being sent for necropsy at OSU. They'll be testing for Newcastle and Coryza and some other things.

I had blood drawn and cultures taken from a pullet. They are going to the state lab and are being tested for MS, MG and AI. I'll let y'all know what the results come back as.

Fingers crossed its something minor though after speaking to an avian pathologist for over an hour I've prepared myself for the worst. She also mentioned that if ta something major that I should be prepared for the state to show up and confiscate the rest of the birds which scares me something awful.

I just can't risk putting them out anywhere near the other birds and hoping for te best. I'm really hoping that the Denagard arrives today. It's snowing as in Portland that means people freak out. :/ you'd think it'd be no big deal but an inch of snow and people act like its a blizzard. So weird.

Anyway. I'm just thankful for everything that is good in my life. I have my health and my family and you guys! And if I'm really lucky, the bresse will be fine and if not, I start over. I still have the chicks which luckily are with broody mommas in the coop. Just have to stay positive!

I am seriously praying for you that it is a minor problem. Shane on GFF for putting you through this.
So I've decided to do something different for my birthday this year.  Earlier today I claimed 2 sets of chicks from CPL and 2 lucky swappers are going to get chicks in 2.5 weeks; right around my birthday!!  I'm still working on who but CPL will be contacting you eventually!

Is it your birthday?! Happy happy birthday!!

This too shall pass. I know I will help you if we have anything you need if the news comes back badly.

Okay question. If it does come back bad, is there a time period the land has to stay unoccupied before it can be repopulated? I know some diseases can survive in the ground for years and I know these birds haven't be outside, but would they enforce that?

Oh no, I'm hoping all goes well.  I sure hope you heard from GFF on this one especially if it does come back to being something really bad.

So far Jenny just said they don't have any illness there and that no one has reported anything since June but someone else here messaged me to the contrary so I'm not sure what will happen.

It's funny but when I explain this to people and tell them that GFF have no phone number they can't believe it. Then they want to know why people would even buy from them if you can't contact them. Makes me feel naive. But there are people who have had good experiences. I just happen to be one of the unfortunate I suppose.

Would I even have any sort of recourse with them if it comes back as something serious? They give refunds if live 72 hours after delivery but what about in good health?

Oh no! I feel sick for you. As Celtic said, if they come for those ****** bresse, they'll take the entire flock. I am praying that you don't have something major. I'm so angry with GFF now that it's not even funny. To risk your ENTIRE flock like that, without any care?! I seriously feel sick about your situation.

Every state is different

Some will take everything

Some will quarantine the property for a period of time

It's a learning curve and one I would be asking about so I was informed and prepared

Birds can be carriers of all sorts of things. But birds tht are known carriers should never knowingly be sold or shipped without full disclosure.
