Hatching Eggs / Paypal CHAT Thread

I'm sad. I checked my brooder babies this morning, and the last lilac turkey that hatched was laying cold in the far corner. The older chicks were laying beside it trying to warm it up. I'm guessing that it got out from underneath the ecoglow at some point last night and couldn't find its way back. I put it back in the incubator to warm it up. It is breathing better and moving around some. Is there anything else I can do to help it? I'm heading to town to buy feed I can pick up anything else that might help. I can't believe that happened.

My guys respond well to a hot water bottle wrapped in a rag or towel. I just put hot tap water in a plastic bottle and make sure the cap is really, really tight. Then wrap it is a piece of fabric. I use old flannel. They will snuggle right up to it. It seems to help my cold guys anyway. I also add a little honey to the water and warm it up a little for the extra energy. Good luck little guy!!!

Its snuggled up next to warm hatching eggs in the incubator right now. I'll try the honey water in a little bit. I think I will pick up some poultry vitamins while I am out. I've never needed them but after hearing people talk about the issues with the SFH better safe than sorry. Hopefully the ACV and honey combo will help.

The warm water bottle works well. I always use a vitamin booster with turkeys, and sometimes with chicks. Anything to get them up and moving.
