Need advice on this little one I don't know enough to know if this is fixable or if I should end suffering. He holds one of his legs back almost behind him.

Is the leg moveable or fixed in place? He's awfully cute. I hope he's okay.

There are several things you can try, if you can't find the threads, let me know and I'll help you. A tape hobble to stabilize the position of the legs, baby Poly-vi-sol (no iron), it can be caused by a vitamin deficiency and placing the chick in a coffee mug (with footing) after they are hobbled. It forces them to stand on the leg and strenghthen it.

I've had this situation with three chicks. But to be honest, I've never found a permanent fix with the leg straight back like that. I had one silkie until it was 6 mos old. It had to be lifted into the coop each night, it could only drag around the run. But it ate, drank and grew. It finally got caught in a wet storm and was unable to get out and stay dry.

My mantra is "no more special needs chicks". Sorry.

Good luck.

THANK YOU to my secret Santa!!! Got my package yesterday but didn't open it till this morning cuzz I got home late from work and went to bed.. Holy cow, that box was stuffed with stuff my kids will like, I LOVE already and that I can use in the future, THANK YOU SOOO MUCH!!!

Those showgirls are silly looking chickens!! I tend to be a traditionalist and like the big fluffy 'normal' ones, haha

DM!!!!!! My SBEL pullet from you that a friend hatched is laying!!!!!

I thought it was a different hen at first, so she's actually been laying for almost 2 weeks, but I caught her in the nest box this morning when I was feeding and right after she laid the egg!! It is a medium-sized green/blue egg, today's looks bluer than yesterdays, and getting bigger everyday

I had a chick hatch like this . She coudnt stnd up or walk and feed herself for about 2 weeks or so so I had to feed her and stuff constantly. She is a good little pullet now but her leg is stil messed up she walks but has a limp. I hope soemone ha some ideas for you I would just wrap the leg in place if you can and see how the chick does , Hopefully your chick isnt as bad as little butter it was a intense few weeks . She isnt suffering though.

They might be a little silly looking, I agree.. but they're also very elegant. Blue is such a beautiful color for a chicken, imo. I'm really not picky though. I love them all!
