So the hatching gods must have been smiling down on me...just had my first 100% hatch from shipped eggs...Juststruttin sent me 10 OE's, 5 OE/DLBB and 5 Legbar/Penedesenca, and all TEN hatched!! I even have a couple of blue and one that looks like it may be a splash. I am still in shock and absolutely over the moon

Oh, and forgot to add I also had some CL hatch, five pullet chicks and one roo, I can't believe it! LOL.

Sending out good hatching vibes in the hopes that the good luck catches!!!

Yippeeeee, congrats.... Love hearing that. My last hatch went a little too well. I hatched 70 fluffy butts two weeks ago. The wind was so crazy last night I was afraid to loose power, but all's good.

If you have claimed eggs before Nov. 16th (unless the offer stated there would be a delay) and have not received them or a DC# that they have been sent, please PM me with the details. If you have claimed PP and it has not been sent within 3 days, also let us know. We will try to make sure we keep on top of any trends.

I have finally finished a summary of all the swaps since the beginning of this thread up to Nov. 15. It is sorted according to each swapper and includes the swaps you claimed and the ones you promised. It can be accessed here:

Here are this week's current standings as of 1:15AM EST, Sat. Dec. 1. For all potential new swappers, we welcome your participation, but please read the rules on page 1, post #1 of this thread.

Game #1 - Whenever someone goes over 7 swaps, they lose 2 swaps the following week. The first person to catch it and post "Jinx"- (name of person going over), gets an extra swap in the current week. If crazypetlady (CPL) goes over, everyone gets an extra swap that week, and the first person to catch her and post "Jinx-CPL" gets a special prize of eggs from CPL. Start stalking!

CPL went over this week, so everyone gets 13 swaps this week!


Game #2 - Whoever claims the 50th, 75th, and 100th swap of the day (yes, I think we will get up that high this spring or before) will win an extra wild card swap to be used in the winner's week of choice.


Those in red are done swapping until 12:01 EST on Sun. Dec. 2. Those in yellow are getting close to a limit.

Below is a list of the new swappers that still have to complete their initial 7 swaps, so are limited to one swap at a time until each one is verified. Once you have been cleared by crazypetlady, kraftyladies, babymakes6 or madamwlf for another swap, you may claim another, regardless of what my list says. Thanks much. Now I get it!! I'm learning. This could easily be addicting.

Yeah, right? I don't even have an incubator yet and I have eggs coming for spring now...just hoping santa brings me one or one of my hens goes broody. actually been checking out how to make incubators on you-tube out of styrofoam coolers in my desparation. sheesh. but I don't really want to chance these eggs with a incubator I build myself.

but perhaps one of my hens will be a good momma.

I *think* 1-3 are cockerels, and 4 & 5 are pullets. Really hoping #5 is a barred pullet!! Anyway just wanted to share for those of you getting these from Donna, I think they are super cute

And also I had a really high hatch rate with them, like 9 out of 10!

Must be the time of year, I am getting more roos than pullets right now. Are you sure they didn't come out of the project eggs I sent you? They would have just been marked B. I have never hatched a solid bird from my Barred rocks.... it is just not possible. The project birds are coming out with some barring and some solid same with the cuckoos but I don't think those are cuckoos. What color are the Solid Blues Legs? Are they REALLY DARK?

If you keep a Roo and put him over that solid you will get barred pullets.

I would not use the roos from that cross as they would only only have one copy of the barring gene.

Ohhh I can't wait until I get some of those blue barred rock eggs from you... I just candled all those Wh and lav ams from you, I swear I think they are ALL developing. I don't remember seeing a clear one in the lot!!

Deanna, got more MFL popping out this am... I think I only have 2 to go on those, and some of Beth's SFH.... love hatching time!

I sold like 20 chicks to one person. I still have a few floating around, but I am going to sell them a pairs and trios in the spring. Good luck hope you have a great hatch!

Here's another pic of her...I know it's not great, it was really overcast and she was not cooperating...but you can kinda see her legs. I am planning to keep one of these roos which is why I still have all of them, lol. I think #3 is my fav so far...he has the nicest barring I think. I do have a fourth blue cockerel just didn't take pics of him, he's pretty similar to the others.



I am 99% sure she wasn't from the project eggs, I remember because none of those got to lockdown...but it's definitely possible I made a mistake. I'm keeping her regardless, but it is a mystery, lol.
