Paints don't breed true. In order to keep all the characteristics: black skin, beak and toes it is best to put a a paint roo over black hens or a black roo over paint hens. And you still could hatch other colors. My roo is black but he's from a paint breeding. My hens are paint. All I have hatched at paints and blacks so far.Can anyone here explain paint silkie color genetics? I see them most of the time in pens with white and black but sometimes other colors too. Will a group of only paint silkies produce other colors? Do you need to keep them with other colors for some reason?
