Hatching Eggs / Paypal CHAT Thread

Yesterday was a bit of a bad day for me, although it ended on a better note. My 2.5 year old Ford Escape Hybrid had its break system go out on Friday. It's a new car with low miles. Turns out that even though this is a known defect, it is not covered under warranty or recall and will cost around 7k. I am absolutely floored that it is in the realm of possibility that you would need to pay that much money for a repair on a new car. I don't know what I am going to do about it either. This is the first time I have bought a nice, newer car for myself. I am kinda heartbroken about it.

I do have chicks hatching and chicken love to tide me over for now, and have been pretty chipper about life in general. Four chicks hatched and a few more working on it. I will see where we are at when I get home. Feeling a bit irritated right now about shady dealers though

WOW! I can't imagine. I would be furious.

see now I solved that feeling by going and having another kid. Older son is now thirty, younger is nine. Crap I'm old! But I have fun like a kid.
Not happening, I'm spayed! lololololololololololoololoool

I am not sure if she has Buff's.

turkeys in general, IMO...I have owned several breeds and find them all to be friendly and alert, and will let you know when anything is strange in their area...my turkeys are great watchdogs, even going so far as to chasing this lady that walks every day around the neighborhood, down the street, just a fussin'! Well, when they aren't penned up for breeding season that is....

Yup what profti said. We got Chinese White geese because they are known for being noisy when anything out of the ordinary happens. They can't hold a candle to the turkeys. I always know if someone is here long before they come to the door, and they will get between me and any stranger to protect me. Turkeys are the absolute best, and they will come and hug you too!

Would that throw whites? I tried to look in the faverolle threads. I found one place where someone else hatched out whites from salmon eggs. One person chimed in and said it could happen on occasion. I just don't know if the whites will throw all white now.????

I think I have the perfect solution!!!

You need more roosters

That should make them happy....

better yet, turkeys

I have wonderful neighbors except for some fishy ones that have really late night deliveries at all hours of the night- I figure the cops will catch on soon. SO.... I am trying to find a way to put my turkeys to be (in incubator) the pasture to free range without me being a huge annoyance to my neighbors. I already added a new buckling that sounds like a dying calf in a hail storm- if he doesn't start shutting up soon I am going to have the cops called on me for torturing poor animals in the barn. We are kind of odd at our farm- 1/2 is city and 1/2 is county. The city part was grandfathered in and so no one can do anything about my animals but, I do try to be courteous.

You need roosters, turkeys and guineas.

Wish I could, I'm grandfathered under NH Right to Farm Law but any "significant" changes and I wouldn't be. I did have 17 meat roosters growing out and 3 breeding roosters. I'm not doing meat birds anymore but I figure that means I can have 20 roosters total at any one time. I'm still well under that, but not for long!

So you know that feeling that you've forgotten something? Well Sunday I went to bed early because I wasn't feeling well, but I woke in the middle of the night with this feeling. I knew there was something, but I just couldn't figure it out.

So Mon. My hubby left and also dropped our son off at school which left me with some time. I usually date every egg I set, but there are some I miss when I'm in a hurry. I also write what I set on the calendar, so I started looking there first. Wouldn't you know it I had set three midget eggs without dates and they were due to hatch on Tues., but which ones were they?

I candled, found them as they had internally pipped, and got them into the hatched just in time. See the little yellow heads.
400

Now I usually set a few to coincide with eggs I shipped to someone, so who was it and how did they do?

Quote: I highly doubt that 2 or 3 turkeys would constitute a "significant" change!! Afterall they are considered poultry... the next year, if they have babies well... that's not significant either!! You just don't want to open up a 10,000 bird breeding facility, now that would be significant!!

So sorry to hear, Steve (my hubby and BYC partner) is a technician and has been most all of his life. We typically purchased a new car every couple of years. In 2005 we purchased a focus (still at a tech at a dealership at this time) it had alignment issues that Ford refused to fix that kept eating tires- long story short we told ford if they didn't fix it and put new tires on they could have their payments and car back. They fixed it, we sold it and vowed to never ever buy a new vehicle ever again. The warranties are voided by stupid things and it is not worth the money you spend to get a vehicle that is made to have problems. We have a repair shop- all makes have items that go bad on certain models. All cars will break down and talking to parts reps that have worked on engineering new vehicle and they are made to make thinks break. It is a terrible cycle. I am very sorry that you are going to be out so much- that reallly stinks- 7k is just a lot ridiculous!
