OK, now I am at a computer
My point earlier was that when I claim or put up spring eggs, I understand that to be when they start laying and fertility is confirmed. I understand if there are existing order ahead of mine, but I don't really expect my eggs to be shipped at the end of spring so someone can sell eggs. I think the date of June 20 or 21 might give someone the idea they can take all spring to fill orders and I wouldn't do that to someone and I don't expect it to be done to me. I too have expensive birds and a feed bill of 2400lbs of feed a month and they pay for themselves, but not at the expense of eggs I have already swapped.
I don't swap eggs from birds that are not laying, just not logical or ethical, especially if they were expensive breeds that need to pay for themselves. I don't swap SLW on average because I was having fertility issues, and I don't get enough eggs to swap anyway. My BLRW are a breed that has not paid for itself yet ($600-700 plus feed in SLW and BLRW) . Some I only have a Pair like Choc Wyandottes and Choc Orps.... can't swap them I need the eggs to build up my flock first.
I am not worried about any of my spring swaps. I know most were young birds and it is still early in spring.... plus I needed a break.... but I AM BACK HATCHING NOW LOL.
I am not fussing, just didn't want someone to think they could wait till the last 3 weeks of spring to start filling swap..... reputation... that is all a person has is their reputation.
I too am EXCITED to get some of these great breeds and I appreciate y'all spreading the love around to those of us that could not afford these breeds (me included) I was not complaining.... but it did chap my fanny when I saw eggs I had swapped for being sold.... and when I saw eggs I had swapped for being swapped to ship ASAP and I had not gotten mine from a swap over 2 weeks earlier. Just saying. It was not a big deal I contacted them and got my eggs eventually, that is the main thing... getting the eggs.
