OK, now I am at a computer

My point earlier was that when I claim or put up spring eggs, I understand that to be when they start laying and fertility is confirmed. I understand if there are existing order ahead of mine, but I don't really expect my eggs to be shipped at the end of spring so someone can sell eggs. I think the date of June 20 or 21 might give someone the idea they can take all spring to fill orders and I wouldn't do that to someone and I don't expect it to be done to me. I too have expensive birds and a feed bill of 2400lbs of feed a month and they pay for themselves, but not at the expense of eggs I have already swapped.

I don't swap eggs from birds that are not laying, just not logical or ethical, especially if they were expensive breeds that need to pay for themselves. I don't swap SLW on average because I was having fertility issues, and I don't get enough eggs to swap anyway. My BLRW are a breed that has not paid for itself yet ($600-700 plus feed in SLW and BLRW) . Some I only have a Pair like Choc Wyandottes and Choc Orps.... can't swap them I need the eggs to build up my flock first.

I am not worried about any of my spring swaps. I know most were young birds and it is still early in spring.... plus I needed a break.... but I AM BACK HATCHING NOW LOL.

I am not fussing, just didn't want someone to think they could wait till the last 3 weeks of spring to start filling swap..... reputation... that is all a person has is their reputation.

I too am EXCITED to get some of these great breeds and I appreciate y'all spreading the love around to those of us that could not afford these breeds (me included) I was not complaining.... but it did chap my fanny when I saw eggs I had swapped for being sold.... and when I saw eggs I had swapped for being swapped to ship ASAP and I had not gotten mine from a swap over 2 weeks earlier. Just saying. It was not a big deal I contacted them and got my eggs eventually, that is the main thing... getting the eggs.

BM6, your mf d'ulcces eggs hatched this weekend ( no serama made it, little buggers) They are cute cute cute! All 7 are trying to sleep under a baby turkey, who is looking around VERY uncertainly. Daze, I got 3 chicks from your side swap, I think one is a sock puppet chick WOOHOO!

That's great!

Do I owe anyone else d'Uccle eggs? If I do please send me a message. I have a bunch of them ready to send.

Sorry-I owe a couple of swaps for them yet, but they are not the greatest layers. I will get eggs from each of them for four days and then nothing more for a week.

I still have not made a penny off of them-I hatched some and am now filling swaps for them.
I just had to give you a hard time...

Hopefully, will be able to swap for some sometime!

I have 6 in my hatcher and 12 more in the incy from Luvinblue.. hoping I have good luck with them...

My DH is pretty creative. He has proposed making coops/pens out of sections of 60" hdpe pipe. I can see it working, but really depends on the price of a 20' length (cut into four ft lengths. Google is not forthcoming about pricing, but if it is less than $590, it is way less than any current plans we have. Any thoughts and/or knowleged to share?

Oh, the joys of chicken ownership. I just got done with a 1/2hr sitting with my newest babies. I am going to try actually socializing this batch since this batch is mostly mine. And, of course, checking for any issues. The one Tolbunt had pasty butt, so I had to tend to that. One of the last babies hatched was a bantam Orp from April/Mama2my4's eggs. It was shrink wrapped, so I helped it. Well, the poor thing had pasty butt so bad... I feel horrible because I knew it had egg/poo chunkies from hatching. I cleaned off as much as I could without touching the umbilical cord. I didn't get enough of it because it had some egg shell stuck to it and it's been clogged since it was hatched. It just finally was able to pass it's first green poo. I wondered why it was acting like it was aspirating. I feel horrible because I noticed last night it wasn't looking good. I just thought it was because it was weak from being stuck in that shell for over 12hrs. I hope the little guy makes it.

I think I have a Tolbunt pair!

And, does this look like an Olandsk Dwarf chick?

It's the only one like it in the hatch. Clean legged, bantam. I swear it came from an egg marked Tolbunt from CPL.
