I agree with all 3 of you. That is why I brought it up. It's not as simple as EE's being off-colored Ameraucanas. Some are, but most are not. It's like the Square/Rectangle argument. Mis-marked/colored Ameraucanas (squares) are EE's (rectangles). BUT Not all EE's (rectangles) are mis-marked/colored Ameraucanas (squares). If that makes sense? That is why the rule about EE's confused me, and with no mention of project birds in the rules (which OE's are, right?), I had to ask.

9gerianMile, "hen's choice" is a selection of purebred eggs, but whatever pen is laying to make up the offered amount. I will leave it up to the Marans experts as to whether crossing different color strains of Marans count as purebreds. I doubt it, but it is not my breed, so I don't get to be the one who says.

There is a separate swap for designer breeds if you look for it. Either called "designer breeds" or "Project Breeds", I don't remember which. It's located here in this section of BYC. You could swap your eggs there if it is requested that you don't offer them here.
Now this I can semi answer. while BBS is all one gene pool, if a FCBM has ONE blue feather its a DC, assuming the info I got this weekend is correct. So, while some of the chicks would be acceptable not all of them would be. So FCBM people are a little paranoid about blue genes sneaking into the black pool and showing up later. The blue people don't care as much as dark blue is good and adding black genes isn't a bad way to keep it dark. Some blue people care more however. Its the same thing if you are trying to breed silkies for paint, you need a partner that's black/black, not blue black, ( or that is the thinking now. paint thinking is still a work in progress)

I was doing some research as we were thinking about getting a blue hen to brighten up the yard a bit. If we do, I would not offer her eggs on here unless people wanted some color for fun. And of course, most people want FCBM's for egg color, and while there are exceptions, FCBM's tend to have much darker eggs then some of the other colors. This is not true for every bird, but is true for the breed in general.

If this is a response to my question about EE/OE's since they ARE appearing in first offers from other people, I'm not sure what your point is?
