I would agree!

Hey if owning chickens which make eggs for you that have no steroids or chemicals in nor does the meat from the chickens you have raised knowing how well they were taken care of and no added things put into their diet so they are good healthy Chickens which is good for you and the "Green" way to go now a days makes you Trailer Trash........ Well then I say well Opossum on a gumbush where do I sign up at because I am Country NOT TRAILER TRASH!!!

Although I do have one question don't you need to own a Tralier to be Trailer Trash?
I own a House without wheels it has a foundtion and four walls that are tied into that foundtion so I guess I can't be Trailer Trash.

Well gosh darn it all to heck I was so hopein to be, cause I was fixin to tell her to kiss my grits we all raise Chickens here and if she don't like she wqon't be gittin no eggs from us,Taint that right Bubba

Now in all seriousness you really should have explained to her that raising chickens is a safe way to know what you are eating for breakfast as well good for the enviroment because chicken pooh is great for the compost pile so you see I am not Trailer Trash. Then I would have

her when noone was looking.

Not all people who enjoy and keep livestock, poultry and such believe they are the "parents" of the stock.

I have chickens a horse couple house dogs and two cats, none of them did I sire. Sure I am fond of all my pets, and they are treated as well as family members, but they ain't my kids.

Seriously speeking you can't expect everyone to be excited or even accepting of your decissions.

Why worry about what your sister thinks.

Hi

I am amazed at the number of people who are not impressed that we are now the proud owners of baby chicks. I have received more puzzled looks than praise or interest. This was a complete shock to me. I was looking forward to getting my little flock. I really dont care what others think (my neighbors are ok so far) but I thought my friends would understand.

Hopefully they will come around when I start giving out eggs in the fall!!!

For some reason, family seems to think they have a free pass to be rude and insufferable. Well, they don't, darn it. When my DH retired from the military and came back home, after a spell, we saw some of his relatives that he hadn't seen in maybe 20 years or so. The first word out of his cousin's mouth (woman) to him was, "boy, you got FAT!". Well, DH was a skinny weakling in college, 5'10", 135 lb with a 40" chest. He has discs in his back blow out and had major back surgery, curtailing his excercise quite a bit, since he was in pain constantly. When she saw him, he may have weighed 190 lb. Why not a hug and a "so good to see you after all this time!" instead of a hurtful insult? Family. Sheesh.

I wanted to say, "You can fix fat, but you can't fix ugly".

Folks operate from a position of ignorance where chickens are concerned. They have no idea what they're missing.

Sounds like a trailer trash comment on the part of your sister in law. Print out these posts and mail them to her!
