Hi all, so about an hour ago a hawk attacked my birds while I wasn’t home. Our one silkie got hurt the worst and received this large laceration above the tailhead. I have clipped the area, cleaned it with saline, and applied TAB. While I do work at a vet, they do not see birds and there are no avian vets near me that see poultry. Any ideas of what I should do?

Sorry about the hawk attack. I would continue the saline and antibiotic ointment twice a day. If you notice any pus or a bad odor, get some chlorhexidene (Hibiclens) and make a spray bottle with half water, half Hibiclens. Hopefully, there are no internal injuries or organs nicked. Can she stand and walk? Treat her for shock with electrolytes or a little water with some sugar, and keep her separated in a dog crate with food and water in a dim quiet space.
