My chicks are getting too old to be in the house anymore, and too big to be in the brooder that they are in now. I have a bigger brooder in the barn, and I'm planning on putting two heat lamps because it's going to get really cold (about 0 Degrees F) and the chicks are 3 and 4 weeks old. Any advice?

My advice is keep indoors till 6-8 weeks. Mine in a warm environment didn’t get fully feathered out until 4-5 weeks and in colder environment not recommended to out till 6-8 weeks when stronger and more feathered. Make sure heat lamps touch nothing and well secured so can’t fall and cause fire hazard in barn when put out. I would wait till 6-8 weeks. Just keep cover over brooder so can’t fly out. :)

Make sure your lamps are secured a couple different ways. You may only need one lamp, depending on how big the brooder is, or one lamp higher than the other, so there is a cooler side.
