Heated water dish (or other methods) reviews wanted!

I like the horizontal nipple water so I got this heated version which has a temperature sensor so goes on and off dependent on the ambient temperature.

I also ferment my feed so also got a heated dog bowl for that purpose. It also has a temp sensor and has a wider base so even when my girls stand on the edge it does NOT tip.

both work quite nicely for me
I just bought one of these for the chickens, I'm glad to see someone else using it

I ended up buying this. The price was right and if it doesn't work out I have cats and dogs that can use it.

I only have 5 chickens and do not go through even a gallon of water a day.

I have tested it overnight to be sure it works (isn't faulty) before counting on it as the only water. Today is the first DAY that it's not supposed to get above freezing.

I like that it's thermostatically controlled and in theory doesn't run when it isn't needed.

I put a block of wood next to it to deter the girls from perching on the bowl itself, they can reach in to drink the water without the block, sometimes they stand on the block, sometimes they stand on the rim of the bowl and have not flipped/tipped it yet.

I plan on dumping the water and pulling the bowl at night since the girls get locked in the coop anyway. I don't think I'd recommend this bowl INSIDE a coop, just in the run. Since it's an open bowl it would be more prone to filling with things like pine shavings, though the walls are quite high (it's deeper than a regular dog dish).

It does require electric, so a nearby outlet and/or extension cord is needed, the cord on the bowl is not particularly long (maybe 2 feet).

I haven't had it long so that's all I've got for now!
