Hedemora Thread

Does anyone have any idea about the genetics of the silky feathers on this breed?

The only thing I have "heard" is not to breed woolly to woolly. I'm not sure if there's a lethal gene somewhere or what, but it was only a snatch of a comment I once read.

Does anyone on this thread have a white Hedemora rooster? If so, can you tell me if white in the Hedemora landrace is dominant or recessive? I know that varies by breed. I am trying to keep as much color in my flock as possible and need to choose between my white roo and my black roo. Also, is it sex-linked? So far all of my white chicks seem to have been male but that could just be coincidence. Thank you for the help!

I know of white females so you've just had a boon of white roosters ;)

Thanks! We'd watched the episode and a few days later I was watching the chicks and thought he looked familiar with those tiny wattles. Bingo ;)

Still hatching, but the dark ones are Hedemora-- darks are very prominent this hatch so far.
