HEELLPP!!!!! Something is coming out of hens butt??? Graphic pic!!

I am gonna go buy some Preperation H in little while. I hope it will stay in. It is out again, but is just a tad bit smaller. Maybe if I keep on pushing it back in it will stay. I am on way to get some stuff for her, I will update tonight or in the A.M.
Thanks, CHrissie

If it is smaller sounds like what your doing is working, I would keep doing it until it stops coming back out. From what I have read on this Thread your doing a good job and the PH will help. Thanks for posting this I have learned a lot about this and now know what to do if it happens to my chickens

hope everything turns out good

Good morning all. It came out again overnight. It seems to be getting smaller each time. I appreciate everyone's help with this. I dont know what I would have done without it!

I will keep you all posted and let you know if and when it finally stays in.
BTW her name is Daisy. Here is a pic from when she is feeling well.

Unless you can't push it in anymore, Daisy is ok. The tissue that holds everything in place in there is probably stretched out by the prolapse and with luck will tighten up as the prolapse stays in.
Keep her from laying if you can to give all that a chance to heal.
As mentioned before, your vet can suture it in place if necessary.

How 'my doin' songbird....?

I just put it back in this morning. It is definitely getting smaller each time. She is eating and drinking and she is in a dark place in the office where it is quiet. No egg yet. Hopefully she wont even try. I will keep you posted!!
Thanks, Chrissie

If you think it is a prolapse the probiotic wet mash will not hurt her

you have it under control
good going

Preparation H is vaseline (petroleum jelly) based. It is intended to shrink blood vessels, which are needed for healing, so that is not an advantage. Note that the vet said KY jelly, which is not petroleum based. You were fortunate to have a vet chime in here; I would not ignore his advice.

GREAT advice. having alpacas I know how important probiotics are as they have very sensitive stomachs. an imbalance in their digestive system leads to a great deal of problems.
I think the principle of the prep. H is to shrink the tissue to help it to be pushed in easier. If the salt/sugar water does this then it is not necessary to put oinment there and if there are sores it will impede the healing.
