Hello from Shropshire UK

Welcome to BYC from middle Tennessee :frow If you're looking to put in a greenhouse it might be cheaper to buy the bender (even though freight will be ugly) and build it yourself. http://www.hoopbenders.net/home.html As for procrastination, well I think I define that. All things get build a day, a week or more late around here.:old Glad you joined the fun.

Hi, I often google questions that start with 'Can Chickens eat...' (latest was Rice Krispies!) and this website comes up, I've had good advice from strangers on here - so thought I'd join and be part of it!
We're in rural Shropshire UK. We have nine ex battery hens atm. All our hens are rescue. We've been rescuing hens for about five years now I think. We've also got two Donkeys, four goats and six dogs.
I'm a part time writer, just getting back into it again after other things got in the way. What else do I do? Hmm... I procrastinate an awful lot! I'm always putting off things!
I guess my main interests other than animal welfare, are the spoken word arts (theatre, drama, film, books) Music and dancing, Batman (love everything Batman!) Not keen on cooking, blummin' hate it! But I do cook though. ...Not keen on snobs and arrogant people. (Who is!)
We've just nursed a hen through her third bout of Enteritis this year. She's not completely well now, but eating and drinking well. So fingers crossed. Look forward to getting to know others on here

Hi, welcome I'm from semi-rural Staffordshire Moorlands. Great to here you are rescuing hens. I'm keen on animal welfare myself...didn't manage to get hold of any rescued chickens, bought my 2 from a farm, but have rescued both dogs I've owned. Currently a beagle from Beagle Welfare...they are doing a great job. Also a strict vegetarian so I do cook quite a bit and try to grow my own! I love the fact you've got donkeys they are such beautiful animals, I look forward to seeing some pictures of your animals, there's a great photography thread of you are interested :)

Hullo, there have been a few new Brits recently, all I want to do is hop on a plane and head for the UK. Instead, I'll put on Midsomer Murders or Agatha Raisin and wish I lived in one of those picturesque villages. sigh.

Welcome to the forum. Some of my girls are probably a bit old, they aren't really laying (much?) any more. That's fine with me. Some members are farmers and some of us are just soft touches for any animal in need of room and board (and lucky enough to be able to provide it).

Hi, and there we are watching Home and Away and wishing we were on one of those beautiful sunny beaches. It's done nothing but rain here for the last few weeks since the children have been on their summer break! My 2 hens don't seem to mind the rain too much though, just enjoy scratching in the dirt and making a mess of the garden ;) my old hens all used to run in when it rained! Glad to hear your looking after the geriatric hens...old hens need love too :)

Hahaha, yes the grass is always greener, isn't it? I love rain. I know that sounds odd, but when you live with chronic drought, it's possible. I love when it really rains and lots of water comes down. sigh.

Hi! Thank you for the welcome! Hey I love those hoopbenders! Quite cheap too! Thanks for the tip! My cucumber and tomatoe plants are taking over so I'll have to get something soon. Glad to meet fellow procrastinators ☺️☺️ ... I have a butterfly mind, it keeps me happy but terrible for getting things done. ...It's a sunny day in Shropshire today after all the rain, I guess it's mostly sunny in Tennessee

Hi! I know Staffordshire, two friends live there - and I'm from Derby originally. So all in the sane sort of area. I'm also Vegetarian, trying to go Vegan. (vegan milk is fab - lots of varieties too!) But I do love cheese... Yep we have two Donkeys. They're sisters. At the minute they're bullying the goats off the hay! The goats are a mix of rescue and rehome. The dogs too. Currently trying to teach my rescue Lurcher to bring toys back (he runs off with them - lost loads!!) ...There are hen rescue charities that have rehoming days, two brilliant ones are; British Hen Welfare Trust and Fresh Start For Hens - both have midlands pick up points ... Thanks for the photo thread info, I will put a few up. Nice to meet you.

Hi! Thank you There are still some picturesque villages left, everywhere does seem to be slowly getting built up though. We don't mind if our hens don't lay either they're pets really. I reckon with the money we've spent on them over the years each egg has cost us about £100!! ...We've been a soft touch over the years too - but we're full at the minute!! Although I nearly took in a pony the other day, just managed to rehome him in Wales!
