What I mean is that I tried but I couldn't get it all in. Like it got on my fingers, and on the outside of the capsule, and on the surface I would set the capsule on, and on his beak, and some would stay in the capsule.
Trying to give a baby chick oil will often result in little getting into the chick and most of it on yourself. It's best to squeeze the oil onto some finely minced hard boiled egg. The egg will help the chick absorb the oil into its system as it has the necessary fat and selenium in it.
If the chick is unable to eat on its own, you will need to use an oral syringe to push it directly into the crop. I'll tell you how to do that if the chick can't eat.
Do you have an eye dropper or a slender oral syringe? You will need to use raw egg mixed with the vitamin E oil. Fill the syringe with all of the contents of one E capsule and then pour a little raw yolk and white in and shake it to mix.
You will pry open the chick's beak and slip the eye dropper or syringe into the chick's right side of the beak, keeping it against the right side of the mouth and throat. If the chick coughs or gags, you don't have it far enough to the right where the esophagus is. That leads directly into the crop. The chick doesn't need to swallow if you get it far enough into the throat. Then very slowly push the contents out of the dropper or syringe.
If at any point the chick makes choking noises, stop immediately as that means you have it in the airway and not the esophagus.
Be sure the egg is at room temperature and isn't cold.
If the chick starts making choking sounds as you insert the syringe, stop. Remove it and try again. Do not press down on the plunger to release the contents until you know you're in the right hole. You will know you're in the right hole because the chick won't make any choking sound.
