I let Doodle and Smudge out to free range this morning, and tossed some crumble in the flower bed I was weeding to keep them close. Doodle and Smudge are my two Cornish X. They decided to wander off, and after a minute I when to check the garage were I knew they would be, scavenging the feed bags. I found Doodle in the cardboard box that contained na empty feed bag, and the string that ties the top shut. She had about a foot and a half of string sticking out of her mouth.
I immediately panicked, tried to lightly pull on the string hoping it would pull out, but it didn't I decided my best course of action was to cut it.
This happened about 5 minuets ago. What should I do?? I've read that string can get caught in their digestive track and kill them, is this the case? I can't believe this happened, does anyone have any suggestions?
She's acting fine for now, but I'm really concerned. I'll attach a picture of the left over string that I cut, and a new chunk of string that I pulled off of na unopened feed back for reference. I think she swallowed a ton of string, I really worried.
