Help chicken walking weird. Today I noticed she seems like her knee is going out in a weird way. Does anyone know what this is called so I can look it

Ok I’ll get a vitamin packet from the farm store and I just happen to also have a reptile D3 and calcium powder that I’ll add in to her food and keep on with the other vitamins in her water and cross my fingers. Thank you for your help

It also could be varus leg bone deformity in one or both legs. There is no treatment and splinting does not help and could make it worse. Here are 2 good articles with pictures:

Yes I read about that first and thought it might be that. I will just treat with vitamins and hope it’s rickets. I do think she’s in pain because she will mostly lay down so I really hope this is not going to be her life 😢

Also she’s definitely not large... she’s on the small side... one thing i noticed was her cheeks and waddle were getting red so much sooner than the others her age but she’s way smaller.. just something I was noticing not sure if it could be related to either disease

Yes so Ive started to give nutra-drench in her water and oyster shell... I really don’t think it could be the food unless it’s a bad batch...? I got her as a coop ready chicken and she was absolutely fine. Very active and beautiful and one day I went out and she was all bowed out and having trouble walking. She is able to jump up to roost (I lowered them all in case it was from a fall) I don’t want to separate her but will if I have to. I do wet there food and let it sit overnight usually... could there be a nutrient deficiency because of that?
What exactly do you mean when you say you got her as a coop ready chicken?

Just recently got this bird?

Yes. The farm I buy from calls then coop ready when they are ready to go straight in the coop no light necessary. They have point of lay, pullets, chicks and coop ready. Also hen pecked for cheaper

My rooster that had this condition would have trouble walking up an incline to roost at night. After I changed to better food, it improved a little but never went away. I never knew if it was rickets but he managed to get around okay, just couldnt climb the roost or get down. It was sad when he died, i found him one morning unexpectedly dead. I also gave him vitamins and supplements, but never tried calcium.

If you do supplement the calcium powder, i would just give it one day a week in the food, but continue to provide oyster shell as usual.
