Help!!! Chicken with a swollen face.

Yes, more photos may be helpful.
Good that there's no lesions/canker - you ask what causes canker (Trichomoniasis/Trichomonosis) in chickens - it's a protozoa - easily spread through shared drinking water/ feed stations.

Her color is concerning. I understand you mention she's pale, but that color of "pale" is not normal even for a pullet.

What do you feed and how long have you been feeding it?

I have many books on raising chickens and have done research, but as mentioned this is my first flock ever. So I am still learning.

The following pictures are of 1) the oldest who seemed to have swelling in a picture previously, but does not!

2) the youngest pullet. Which, she’s always had the alarming pale comb (to me).

3) the one with the facial swelling, to give you a better idea! She is also on the chunky side.

I feed what was recommended to me by a feed and seed supplier in my home town, Willows Agriculture is the business, and it is a poultry layer feed by Masterfeeds Canada. These chickens also free range, have access to a yard with grasses etc.

How long have they been eating layer feed?

Comb color is not concerning to me. She's a 15wk old BR pullet, she likely will not come into lay for another 10wks, maybe more so a pale comb....that's normal.

The face, is what is "off". She does look "chunky". Nothing feels air or fluid filled?
Crop completely empty in the morning?

They have been eating layer feed the past 3-4 weeks. Which is what also was recommended to me. Is this incorrect?

Yes crop is empty! I read up on sour crop and impacted. I felt her crop, was full before roosting last night, empty this AM. No fowl odour or any liquids seeping out of her mouth.

They have been getting a bit more treats lately, but more so to keep cool- watermelon and cucumber.
A few days ago, a small amount of strawberries as well a bit of apple (no seeds).

Stupid question, but could that of done something?!

Thanks!

She does look a little grayish on her cheeks, doesnt she? I’m not seeing much swelling, but it can be hard to see in pictures, and chickens aren’t always the most willing posers...
