I need help! The coyotes have moved in on us. I've not lost any of my chickens to them yet.....but they are coming out during the day now. My son was playing in the front yard the other day with the dog and he came running into the house and looked like he had seen ghost. The child was trembling and could not even speak. He finally mumble "coyote". I grabbed the gun and ran out the door and only in time to see it running up thru the woods. I shot a couple of times in the air hoping to scare it and any others off. It's not illegal to kill them in North Carolina and there is not a "coyote season". I've got 2 live traps that I set every night, but have only managed to catch a whooper of a coon and an evil possum. I'm really worried about my child playing outside not to mention my chickens. The chicks are in the run during the day while I'm at work and then I let them out to free-range after I get home. Any ideas?
