I purchased 2 silkie chicks in early March. I have been watching them grow and I thought I had 1 rooster and 1 hen. This morning I heard a very pathetic sounding crow and was surprised to see it was the one I thought was a hen! I was very disappointed as I do not wish to keep a rooster. We live in a small city and I don't think my neighbors would appreciate it. I am aware that some strange hens like to try to crow, so I'm hoping that is the case. What do you think? The larger one with the clean legs has a larger comb and wattle, and a much more upright tail. I thought this was a rooster. The smaller has feathered legs, smaller wattles and comb and a much smaller bushier tail. The larger seems much more assertive, walks more upright, chases the smaller one.

Thanks everybody for your help. I am very disappointed they are both roos, but I appreciate the responses. I will try to find a home for them. I had some "backups" from the same brood that my friend was raising for me, but they were all killed by something. Probably a raccoon. They were not very bright birds.
