Been reading and lurking @casportpony is awesome in so many ways... I dont have ducks yet. But want some eventually. And One of those dogs like you have.... I forget the breed.

Also I applaud your tenacity and search for good treatment techniques. And for your ability to take instruction...

I too live out too far to run to the vet or even the store.... an hour each way. So we have to have some of those extra skills to handle situations on your own...

Cathy has a thread on first aid kits... Its a wonderful source of info... I have had horses for fifty years so my Husbandry skills run along the lines of Large livestock. But it only took a few additions to make my first aid kit up for Poultry.

Our dog is a mutt. But he is closest to a Leonberger.

Carmella is now drinking normal amounts of water all by herself! So proud of her! Gregory just had his 75mL of food for the night. About to give Carmella her 60mL. No poop update yet. They are all still mostly watery with some dark green chunks. Energy is up, Carmella is holding her head straighter up now, but I can tell it is still difficult for her.
Wonderful news! I wondered about her today but hadn’t had a chance to read before now.

Now that looks like duck poop!

The ducks ate food all by themselves this morning!! View attachment 1691611
Surprisingly, Carmella ate about twice as much as Gregory. I'm going to see how much they eat through the day, but I still plan on tube feeding until they are eating normal amounts of food on their own. They are both drinking lots of water on their own! Carmella is still having a little trouble holding her head up, and is still pretty dizzy. But she's doing better every day. I don't like to be overly optimistic, but I am very optimistic.
I think this all seems to be on the up-swing. So glad.

Had a long day, so I didn't get to update about the ducks much. But the Ducks are doing great! Their pen is littered with good poops and Carmella is up to 5lbs!!!!! Gregory is up to 6.8lbs!!
They ate MORE than their normal daily food rations! Do you think they still need more nutrients? Or should they be ok eating on their own now?

Do you know how much they weighed prior to this incident? It seems like if their wounds have healed and they're eating just fine they could maybe go back outside, assuming they're not badly underweight.
