Had a long day, so I didn't get to update about the ducks much. But the Ducks are doing great! Their pen is littered with good poops and Carmella is up to 5lbs!!!!! Gregory is up to 6.8lbs!!
They ate MORE than their normal daily food rations! Do you think they still need more nutrients? Or should they be ok eating on their own now?

Here is a photo of the corner Carmella likes to poop in for those who are interested.

If that is Carmella's poop then I would say her prognosis is excellent. Poop like that, weight gain, and the fact she is eating and drinking are great signs that she is on the road to recovery.

If both are eating, drinking, pooping, not losing weight, then probably okay to stop tubing.

This is Carmella's poop, I saw it happen! So happy my ducks don't have to eat giant spooky worms anymore! I'm going to keep weighing them and make sure their weight stays healthy. I don't know their weight from before the attack, but when I first started the thread their weights were 4.6lbs and 5.4lbs. That was after 4 days without eating.

Do you know how much they weighed prior to this incident? It seems like if their wounds have healed and they're eating just fine they could maybe go back outside, assuming they're not badly underweight.
Yeah, I really want to make sure they build up enough fat before I put them back out in the cold. And at this point, the smell of duck poo in the house doesn't bother me much, so I think I'll wait at least a couple days and make sure they are eating enough to stay healthy.

If you know how much they should weigh that would probably be helpful. How much should a hen and drake their ages weigh respectively? Or is there a lot of natural variation?

I'll do some research and see what I can find out. I'm sure there's some amount of natural variation from bird to bird, but I can see if I can find averages for their breeds.
