Help! Extremely Broody Silkie!

I just ordered 5 silkies. I'm going to let them go broody fairly often, and I'm prepared for impossible non-broodiness.

Honestly though, despite my impatience with her broodiness, my silkie is literally the best. You made an excellent decision ordering silkies. Make sure to socialize them well and you'll have best friends for life! Snuggles are definitely a must.

Haha! I heard cochins were pretty broody, too. They're super adorable, though!
I had thought of the idea of maybe getting her some chicks. Maybe that would satisfy her broodiness? I have no idea if that'd work, though.

I agree with Windus ^^^ My silkie - Valentina was broody for over 5 weeks on dud eggs...finally I placed 4 baby chicks under her one early morning before daybreak and she adopted them instantly! Now they are 12 weeks old and Valentina is broody AGAIN! She sits on all the girls eggs however I collect them daily...I make her leave the nest as often as I can but she will not stop...she's happy so I let her be...

I wouldn't let her continue to sit if you don't intend for her to hatch. Being broody can be hard on a chicken and they can lose weight, lose body condition, pluck out feathers, etc. IMO kinder to break them so they can get back to normal chicken activities.
