We recently had a raccoon attack on our flock of five, two were killed and our buff Cochin was very badly injured. The coons took a big chunk out of her neck and now you can see to her scull. We don’t think She has brain damage because she can walk. We treated her injury with some hydrogen par oxide and put some Triple antibiotic cream on it. We’re givig her water but she still won’t eat. Does anyone have past experience with this sort of thing or any advice on how we could treat her better?

Scalp injuries should heal fine as long as you keep them clean and moist with an ointment as you've already done.

She is likely suffering shock. Electrolytes in her water and being kept warm will help her get past it.

:goodpost: Electrolytes, and water. Also give her food, she will eat when she is ready. (If she lost a lot of blood, she will have to replace it)
We made her a hospital box and moved her inside. She doesn't have to fight the elements, and she is in a controlled semi-sanitary environment.
She lived and is doing well.

Ok, so she can't feed herself so we've been hand feeding her some mashed up crackers in water. She has lost so much weight just because of her lack of food and water. Any suggestions on what else we can feed her/ any info on force feeding?

I would begin an antibiotic. She may be lethargic and not feeling like eating because she's sick with infection in the wound. Hydrogen peroxide is not a thorough wound cleaner. Copious amounts of soapy water or saline solution are far preferable. Also, the wound needs to be cleaned daily and topical ointment reapplied to help keep the wound moist. If the wound dries out, bacteria can quickly colonize the wound.

**LU LU UPDATE**

So LU LU has improved very much in the last two weeks. She is walking around now and talking too. We put her outside and watched her walk about 20 ft. She can eat soft foods and her other eye has opened slightly.
