Help me decide which male to keep

I'm confused? You say one died under the heat lamp! Indicating it most likely died of heat exhaustion? The other you say was on the edge of the pile of chicks, indicating the temp was to low....if they are piling up!
It doesn't take long for a chick to become chilled or to have heat exhaustion.
They were going together to huddle they might have been a bit cold but I watched them after I woke them up and all but the one seemed normal. I don't mean piling up like they were really cold I just meant that they were going together to sleep. I thought that was normal. I don't have a pic of them from when that happened but here's a pic that's similar to what they were doing but there aren't as many quail chicks. It was one chick that died at the edge of the pile that was under the heat lamp. I'm sorry if that's confusing I'm not the best at explaining things.

Those that are piled up are cold. Place a thermometer down on the bottom of the brooder, it should be between 95 to 98°F under the light the opposite end should be cooler.
How big is the brooder? Looks a little small in the pic.
Also, I noticed the feed...it needs to be crushed up so they can eat it...that's too big of pieces for them to eat.

You can only see about half the brooder in the pic. These quail are actually grown now I was asking the question about why the one died before to see if anyone could answer it but I didn't have any other losses. I do one hundred percent agree with the feed being crushed up and I did do that after reading about quail chicks some more after the one died. So the chick most likely died from the cold? I guess my brain never registered that some quail don't understand where the hottest spot in the brooder is so they get too cold and since nothing else happened except one chick death I never actually looked into the problem that much.

Are they fighting now with the 11 hens in with them, or are they alone together? If they are fighting before you put them with the hens, it might change once they have ladies, 11 is a good number for 2 boys.

They were fighting because because they didn't have enough females. I don't know if I have enough space for two males in with the eleven females but I can always separate them again if they start fighting again.
