Help! My eggs got wet :(

Well these poor eggs seem destined not to make it. When I left this morning she was off the nest so I just figured she was eating. When I got back hours later, she was still off the nest and the eggs were stone cold! They were supposed to hatch tomorrow and Friday! I can't believe it. She just randomly decided to be not broody anymore. I put the eggs under a brooder light in my office in hopes that by some miracle they will warm back up and hatch, but I really think they have to be dead now. I am so disappointed.
Oh I am soooooooo sorry. Please keep us updated and tell us if they hatch! I am so sorry for that happening. :(

Has anyone ever had their eggs get cold, like REALLY cold, and still hatch after they warmed back up? It's just sad. I was so excited about my first hatch. Thanks Chuckthechick. I candled 2 of them again after they had been under the lamp for an hour and I could not confirm that they were moving

I have never had that happen, thankfully, but I really hope that they will be ok. That naughty hen!!! But try and candle them again in an hour or so. I have my fingers crossed for you and hoping for the best!! I am so sorry that that happened :hit

I had that happen with my silkie and eggs my eggs were sermerged in cold water for about and hour but all of them hatched. Yous should def hatch.

I candled them all one more time and I actually did see what I thought was movement in ONE. I am nearly positive all the others are quite dead. All my hopes rest on this one little chick! I will leave it under the brooder all weekend and hope it hatches. I'm going to have to leave them alone now, they've been handled and had their temp fluctuated way too much for my liking. Come on little chick! You can do it!

When you candle them, very gently tap on the egg near the air cell and talk to the chick while you're doing that. It will help stimulate the chick & might help to promote at least a little bit of movement for you to be able to see... Best of luck, hun. I'll be looking forward to your good news post saying your eggS hatched. ;)

Oh, keep in mind that since the eggs got cold, it might delay their hatch, so don't be too scared if that does happen.

Thank you for the advice. I am completely new to this. It was supposed to hatch tomorrow but I will leave it in til Sunday hoping for a fluffy! I did tap on the air cell a bit on all of them but only one brown egg moved a little. If it hatches it will most likely be an EE. My EE rooster is dominant, and it was either a barred rock or a cinnamon queen that laid this particular egg. I'm also still hoping a little that I didn't see movement in the rest because the embryos have been through a lot today and are tired, but we will see how that goes.

That could be the case, too. They could still be trying to warm up. Think positive. My incubator temp spiked to 108 the first night I set my eggs. As of tonight, I have 3 hatched & 4 more pipped that I can see movement in. I only set 11 eggs and this is my first ever hatch after only having chickens for 6 weeks. I'm completely new to this, too, lol. Good things can still happen for you.

You might try wetting some paper towels and lay the eggs on them so they're getting some moisture. That might help, too.
