Help! My humidity is 89 and ducklings just hatched this morning!

Omg! I thought I Posted this reply a long time ago! I never hit the reply button! ! I don’t know how I would’ve hatch those eggs without you! Thank you so much for all of your advice!

You're are very much welcome! Congrats on your first hatch, you did great! :D

Thank you! I have a few questions if you don’t mind?

Should I be giving my ducklings save-a-chick electrolytes and probiotics every day in their water? And if so for how long? I bought separate packets for both probiotics and electrolytes and have been putting them in their water every day. A worker at the supply store told me to do that so I just wanted to make sure I’m doing the right thing?

I also saw all types of vitamins, liquid vitamins and pellets, in the tractor supply store yesterday and I was wondering which ones I should be giving them? Is there one that can give everything they need? Besides electrolytes? Why do they even need electrolytes if they are already drinking water?

When can I put some water in a kiddie pool or bath to swim? Or can I add just a small amount for them to slash around? They are 7 days today.

If you don’t mind me asking, how do you know so much about ducks? Do you have any as pets or is for a farm?

Thank you!

I usually give mine vitamins for the first few days after hatch, as a boost, each person will have there own preference, I just don't think it's needed after that unless the babies are acting lethargic. For vitamins, I'll sometimes use either Rooster Booster, Nutri-Dench, Sav-A-Chick, or Poultry Cell, all are great brands, out of all I would say Poultry Cell or Nutri-Dench gives them the most vitamins.

If they are a week old, you could probably provide them with a shallow container of water.

I keep around thirty-five birds as pets for the last five years, I've had lots of experience with different things, but BYC is a great resource for anything poultry as well.
