I have a gold laced Bantam Polish. He is about 8 weeks old now and when I went outside to feed the chickens he is on the floor of the coop with his Neck bent in a weird way!

He did not try to run from me when I went to pick him up (he usually runs all around when I try to handle him)!

He grooms himself and look perfectly normal, but standing still it looks like his neck is Broken! And he is having a hard time getting around! He spins in circles trying to walk with the other chickens!

What could have happened to him during the night?? The others never pick on him! So why is his neck like this? Can I fix it? DO I have to cull him? (I hope not, he is so beautiful!)

Get him inside in a warm dim place. Give him 5 drops baby poly-vi-sol no iron liquid vitamins. Keep him quiet and calm. Feed him some yogurt and scrambled egg. Put 1 tbsp of raw apple cider vinegar in 1 gallon of drinking water for him.

Watch him closely for other symptoms.

Thanks Miss P! But... I do not have any of that except for the Eggs! How much does the Apple Cider Vinegar and Vitamins run? I am tight on money at the moment... But I will bring him in and put him in a quiet place...

The vitamins are about $6 at the store I frequent. Apple cider vinegar ("with the mother") is about $3.50.
Did you have this chick vaccinated for Marek's?

I hatched him from an Egg. The breeder has been tested by the state and his birds are clean.... He has been healthy up until this morning!

I don't think I have enough money for both... Will the Apple Cider alone help? Or the vitamins?

The Symptoms are in my first post... I have no clue what my chicken has or what its called... DO you have any other helpful tips?

My young Polish just seems to be holding his head low and to One side.. looks like his neck is broke..

My daughter's chicken had the same thing and it progressively got worse to were she would do summersaults. This was in March.

We took her to a vet and he gave us antiboditics and dewormer. She recovered but was alway "off". Her gait and pecking for food.

A month and a half ago she had the same beginning as your roo again. We did the antiboditics again and she didn't recover. Her head never straightened out and she wouldn't eat much.

Joy passed away this morning. A sad day in our home.

Another thought...we had a chicken once just have the kinked neck and we can to the conclusion that she flew into the side of the coop coming off the roost. She got better and her neck straightened out.

Good luck with your chicken. Keep it seperate and love lots on it!

What is this treatment for? what condition does this bird have?

Miss Prissy, correct me if I'm wrong, but bringing him into a warm dim place is purely to keep him comfortable, the vitamins are to keep his stength up so he can better heal, the yogurt & egg are also to keep his strength up & the apple cider vinegar is to fight any bacteria that he might have in his system?? Chickens can get back & neck injuries just like humans and either thru his own fault (his head feathers) or another, that's seems to be his problem. Then again, he could just be sick. I'm no expert by any means so

. Hope Miss Prissy or other more experienced people can help you.

Sometimes weird neck and head problems can be nutritional deficiencies. That's why a vitamin boost in the face of illness is good. It builds them up for healing and fighting disease. also good foods to boost his general health. ACV boosts the immune system.
