help! roosters trying to mate with pullet her head is bald, leg hurt.

you have to keep her away from the roos. Completely away. the Roos grab the head feathers first then try and mount to mate which is why she is bald. It you dont have a cage get a cardboard box and keep her on your porch or in the house for a few days till she starts getting better but with any injury it will take a week or more to heal and she has to be kept away from the roos the whole time. You can make a roo stop from doing what is in his DNA. You can separate them or get grown hens about 20 at least. I dont know what size coop you have so you may have to "foster" the Roos out. even 1 roo will go after her. So they all have to go or be kept way from her.

I agree with separating her until she gets better. Yes, roos are very driven and don't pay much attention to the condition of the hen. Hey, if it moves, its fair game!

If you really want to keep the boy, get more hens. If you want to keep the hen happy and healthy, say goodbye to the roo. Anyway... Good luck with your hennie!

Keep a close watch on the other hens. Now that their 'target' is gone, the roosters will start on the next easiest hen. Multiple roosters gang breeding hens results in injuries, decreased egg production, and death.
