I know this is Back Yard CHICKENS, but I have a question I'm hoping someone can answer.....We have new ducklings (almost full size at 8 weeks) as well as our chickens, and apparently one of those ducklings managed to dislocate his left leg either trying to get into a drinking trough or out of it (not sure which). All I know for certain is that I found him yesterday, exhausted, in the trough. I put him inside under a heat lamp over night and hoped for the best. This morning I noticed he was limping badly, so I took the time to examine him as best I could....I'm not a veterinarian, but I've been around animals all my life, and dealt with a multitude of situations with them. One I've never dealt with is a bird and a dislocated leg. During my examination of him, I determined that none of the bones in his leg were broken, from the toes up to the hip, but I could feel that his hip was out of place. He was eating and drinking somewhat normally.

I'm trying to decide what to do. As I see it, he has 3 options:
1. Join the Cornish-Rocks in the freezer (aka slaughter)
2. attempt to re-locate his hip
3. do nothing and wait until he reaches slaughter weight.

Can anyone help out here? Please?
