Hello!

My family was recently gifted with some quail.

I need some help maybe identifying what breeds/sexes this guys are.

Already got 2 eggs from them, so I know we have atleast 2 females!

They are dust bathing as I take these photos.

Also my family is new to quail, so any tips would be awesome!

I have 3 light brown ones. One almost a fawn color. One dark brown with a white spot on its neck. One a lovely light brown/gray color.

Coturnix, not sure on colors though
Nice birds! If you hear any of them make a crowing noise, they are likely male. I have coturnix quail as well, and our young male crows a lot.
@muddy75 might be able to help with colors? And @Kiki has basically silent quail so you may not always be able to tell by crowing :lau I think hers might be oddballs though because mine are already making noises :lau😜

Breed: coturnix
Gender: I can't really tell from the picture, but i think i can spot about three females, if they make a crowing noise like this
then it's a male. female wild patterns have spots on their chest while males have rust colored chests.

number five is super interesting though

tips: if you have any, you can give them some ants and woodlice for treats. They also enjoy kale leaves (make sure they don'T have any chemicals) and they love raspberries and strawberries (again, homegrown is better for them)
my quails go crazy for dandelion stems and millet.

they also like clovers and grass (no chemicals :) )

Edit: the handsome little baby in the video is Clover, he's a rosetta quail. :)
and @KDOGG331 is right, @muddy75 should be able to help

Yes! Our dark brown one with white makes that sound. I thought I just startled it and it was angry at me :lau.

Isn't the ratio like 2 females to 1 male, or am I thinking wrong?

Any ideas on how to collect ants for treats? And can quail eat termites? I know my chickens go crazy over the termites.

I've never given mine termites (they don't live where i am) but i'm thinking they should be able to eat termites.
To collect ants i squish them and pinch them between my fingers and my quail come running. Some of mine will just eat them right off the ground when i let them out.
I forgot to mention they eat earwigs as well. I don't like touching earwigs, so i just let some of my good bug catchers eat it themselves.
If your male is nice and kind he can live with just one female, some of them won't be satisfied with that if they've had more females before though :lau
according to what i've read, the ratio is 3 females to 1 male. If you have two males together it's really likely that, once their hormones kick in, they'll attack each other. So watch your birds carefully, I've also had a female who wasn't pleased or something and attacked my roo.
some females will attack other females (pecking order or something like that) and roos that attack my females (ripping off skin)
But quail are pretty fun!
I have this one quail who'll go nuts over treats and her face looks like she's always curious about something and i always tease her :lau

I think I’ve heard closer to 4 or 5 females but idk for sure. I wouldn’t do more than that though.

Yes, I agree that there should be at least 3 females per male--that is the ratio I have. The females still have mussed up feathers, though, so maybe more would be better?
You could try adding a few more and see what happens or take out the extra males maybe? If they’re in the same cage?
