I’m not sure what that is. Maybe old dried blood, or fibrous material. But it is good that she is pooping. Hopefully, others will have thoughts or suggestions.

Yes - thank you! I’m putting her up for the night now. I’m sure I’ll be getting up a ton of times to check on her. She’s a special chicken. Almost all of my animals got killed by a fox last May (they were my babies). I came home to them all over the yard dead and it about broke my heart - her mama usually laid an egg right before we would lock them up for the night and luckily she laid her last egg right before she was killed in the middle of the day which was super rare for her (god works in mysterious ways). Anyways the egg, 1 of my turkeys, 1 duck, and my rooster was all I found after all that. They’re all still alive and well today and she was the egg. She’s a lucky one - near and dear to my heart so I hope she makes it.

It is possible that he is breeding and injuring the hen. Drakes have penises - roosters do not. Drakes breeding chicken hens can injure/kill them. This may be part of what has happened to her. I would definitely separate her from him.

He usually doesn’t bother any of the chickens. We got him a girlfriend awhile back that he’s obsessed with and is constantly always around. They basically do their own thing and avoid all the other animals (they’re stuck up) LOL

@Eggcessive so you were right! We sent emails over to our family livestock vet and he said it looked like she may have been having issues laying her egg and then the other animals started picking away at her vent since most likely she was bleeding from the area and had discharge. He called the clinic there and we picked up a one time antibiotic shot for her diarrhea and a powder to put on her vent every 12 hours to help with inflammation. (I’ve posted pics below) she’s doing a lot better now it seems but I’ll be keeping her inside to monitor her probably for the rest of the week to be on the safe side! Thank you so very much again! Sarah seems to be a lot happier now - just living it up getting pampered in the house
