Hen (Big Mama) acting so strange, heart breaking.

There is a short window every time my tamer hens come into lay where they really get into what I am doing in the yard if they do not have access to a rooster. They are looking for a nest site and seem to think I am looking to provide them with one which I have done repeatedly now and they actually use. Same hens really rile rooster as the hens walk by but I have not picked up on signal roosters pickup on.

Sound is involved because roosters do not need to see hen when she walks by.

Update:

Big Mama has set up. It took her two lays and a fart egg but she is now setting. So i guess we will wait about a month or so and see what happens.

Any suggestions? We are in GA, while it’s not generally cold, it does get cold. If eggs hatch should we bring chicks inside??

Any advice/suggestions would be great because this will be our first hatch.

No, leave chicks with mama.....make sure they are dry and out of any wind.
