Hen or Roo 5-6 week Sussex & Australorp chicks

Buff Sussex is the only obvious cockerel and perhaps the Blue Australorp. Update in a few weeks to be sure on the others, but all appear to be pullets! I am not as familiar with the maturity rates of the Australian lines of these breeds as they're bred a bit less for production compared to the birds here.

I think the blue astralorp is a roo, his wattle is sprouting and comb is really pinking up this week. Im super confused about the lavender sussex. She has a little wattle developing but her comb is still small and doesn't appear to be growing much. She is one of my childrens favourites so we hope its a hen.

Oh I hope you're right. I go from thinking hen to roo on a daily basis. She is is one of our faves so fingers crossed!

I forgot to mention, she had a comb injurey, so most Australorps will have bigger combs. The young Tiny, she was probably the age of your first photos.

Update 9-10 weeks

Stormy - Black Australorp - I’m still not sure some days I think hen other days

Ham - Blue Australorp - I’m thinking Roo as he’s getting a lot redder looking he’s also a week younger than the others.

Snow Ball - Light Sussex. So confused by this one. He/She is really big and has quite think legs but still lacking any head gear. Super friendly loves cuddles so hoping pullet but could it be late developing roo at 10 weeks?

Butter Cup- Buff Sussex - 100% Roo lol

Cotton - Light Sussex . Only one I’m sure is a Pullet. She’s smaller than my other light Sussex and he smaller legs.

Pepper - Lavender Sussex. I have no idea with this one. She seemed to grow little wattles early and a tiny bit of comb but it hasn’t grown for weeks and not really red on the comb.

Let me know what you think they are, hen or roo? It’s driving me crazy.

Buttercup and maybe ham are the only possible Roos I see!

I think Ham is just an early developing pullet. Post updated pics in a few weeks!
