I have FOUR broody hens, they are driving me nuts. There little biological clocks are are screwed up. We have short days, cool temps.

If they are broody they will probably be molting. A bunch of mine are doing the same thing. I wish they would have done it earlier. I am upping their protein so they can go through it faster. (30% for a short time is good for molting)

Tiki244, what do you use to up their protein? Special food, some kind of additive? Just wondering how to go about it when the time comes for my girls.

I use dry cat food. I buy the cheap stuff at the feed store. 50lb bag for about 20 bucks it has 36% protein. The hens can't seem to get enough of it. I feed during the molt. I don't know if they know it has more protein or what but they eat it as fast as they can. I don't have a specific amount I feed. I stand there with a coffee can full and throw it around the run and make sure that all get some.
