HERE WE GO AGAIN Anyone SETTING Aug 30th - Sept 8th join me!!

I'm half way through my eggs have been in my incubator for 11 days going to candle my eggs later and see what's going on in them finngers crossed I think 2 was not fertile at my last look which was Monday so that takes me down to 4 eggs that had veining through them

Hi everybody! Hope all hatches are going well

So far so good with the eggs I set yesterday, I actually have an LG Still air and a HovaBator forced air both set with eggs, started both at the same time yesterday afternoon. So far so good except for one slight hiccup in which I adjusted the LG slightly and ended up with the temp raising to 104! It was only for a few minutes so hopefully I haven't done any lasting damage, but we shall see. Since then everything has been very stable, with the LG sitting at 101 at the top of the eggs, and the HovaBator right at 100. Does anyone think I should try getting the HB up to 101, or should it be ok at 100?

Amazingly, humidity has now steadied at exactly 40% without any additional effort. Egg turners are OFF for the time being, since these were shipped eggs.

Thanks!!

Wow, that is exciting that you have 2 sets going. Wish I could tell you something about that HovaBator, but I know nothing about them. My hatch is going good. The temp raised to 99, so hopefully it will raise alittle more and we will be in good shape. My humidity is 36 right now with no water added, a dry hatch. I think it is all good so far.
I noticed that you are in "Royal" Palm Beach. That is where we were too. That was about 7 years ago. We moved just after Jean and Francis hit, ( but not because of them). Had too many horses to stay there. We were off of Persimmon, near Coconut. I bet everything there has changed alot.

Yeah, I had just a few too many to fit in one incubator, and a really nice person who sold me a 2 dozen assortment included 6 extras! So, I was unexpectedly over capacity, and had already bought a second incubator due to the first one being delayed in shipping...long story lol. Anyhow it just made sense to run both even though I had intended on only filling one.

It's nice here, I actually technically live in Loxahatchee, but my address of record and where I receive mail is RPB. I'm not sure I'll stay for more than another year, I moved here to by closer to my family but I miss the seasons changing, and the cost of living is horrendous! In the back of my mind I keep wondering "how am I going to make a big move with all of my chickens?", lol.

Oh Guys, I couldn't resist it any longer and candled (Day 4) and as far as I can tell I have 33/35 developing. The Marans and Olive eggs are really hard to see through at this stage, but things look like they're growing - yay!!! Some of the Olive eggs are really porous, so fingers crossed for them

, but 5/6 Super Blues are developing nicely. For those of you who love pics as much as me - here are my Iphone pics from this morning's candling session :

With chickens? I guess you will be driving, lol.

Can you do anything to save a chick that has too much fluid remaining in the egg at the time of hatching? My neighbor just showed me a newly hatched chick that was still wet but not breathing. She has them under her broody hen. It has been very humid here and way too much rain so maybe not enough evaporation in the egg. I was thinking that the chick may have drowned. She said there was alot of fluid and it did not smell right. The rest of her 7 eggs are due tomorrow to hatch. Sorry if this is off topic alittle, just wondering. Thanks.

Great pictures!! It is so exciting when you hold up the flashlight to the egg for the first time and see all those little red lines.

That is SO not right!!! People always include extra's. I hope you get that sorted

I received a message back about my egg shortage... I guess there was a mix up. He did include 4 extra eggs but sent my cochins to someone else and I received lemon orpingtons. Not sure what they are but I will google them! He offered to make it right if I would pay for postage. I hope to do that in 21 days
