HERE WE GO AGAIN Anyone SETTING Aug 30th - Sept 8th join me!!

Went in and looked again more critically... .3 are possibles .One is all dark as i said that looks good 2 have a very very small spot of light at the small end but ihave had that ithink before. They are sort of iffys i guess.Tthe rest i think are quiters for sure as much and i wish they werent. Some its hard to tell as the shells are thicker in spots so look dark but not dark enough i am afraid.tHowever i wil leave them in my hovabator and act like i am locking viable eggs... in case. .LOck the maybe good ones in the Genesis the window is bigger.

I set up 6 eggs 09/16 for my first time. I have hatched snake/turtle eggs before so I know chicken eggs can't be any harder. Didn't quite make it in the 08/30 - 09/08 window though.

I haven't got a clue on that one best wait for one of the others to answer that question for ya I defo seen 1 move in my egg it's the other egg of mine I ain't sure of I will need some stiff drinks to get me through this hatch

Thats ok... stick with us happy to have you and also start one of your own for your date.
No law you cant be on two or 3 even and you dont have to be on BYC for ages to start a thread either. First day is fine. Also some here just got eggs and are getting some soon so you can be be in with them then too.Closer to theuir hatch so you can do it together.

Hey Sunny Skies - I'm a Homeschooler as well! :frow Yay!!!  What your hatch days?

We start watching for pips Friday and then every week for the next 4 weeks.

Hatcher at a great temp, but humidity...I laid some of the yellow corn holder things in the outer rings under the wire, where I can squirt water in, a tube with a syringe in the inner wells, and some sponges. humidity is holding nicely now.....but last time, I had a heck of a time holding it up, even laying a wet towel in there didn't work. Odd, as it was super humid here then. Dry now.

Last time, something happened where they all, other than one, died at day 17-18. No pips, no yolk absorption. Have no idea why.

My  look like this I must of checked my eggs 1000 plus times already my carpet has my foot prints imbedded in it got a night shift tonight so at least I carn't check the eggs then hmmmm can text the other half to check them tho and I'm also going to glue my hands together so I carn't get the temptation to go back into the incubator ;)

I am having a hard time with humidity also.. last time drowned the poor little things :( This time I kept the humidity low ( 32%) for the first 18 days ( today is 18th) and need to get it to 50/60% in the hatcher for the hatch. I live on the coast and it is humid here 73% in the house right now. I have it to 58% with the plug out.. want to see what happens when I put the plug back in.. dont know if it will go higher or lower! I will put them in the hatcher tonight ;)

Haha, I know I will get no sleep for at least one night. Last time I was up and down all night checking on pips that werent doing anything!!! Wore out the flashlights... made the dog crazy getting up and down all night. Cant wait!!!! Hoping the "Pullet Fairy" will spread a little Fairy Dust for me.Im leaving her offerings of Chocolate and various goodies as a bribe ( or for when I get up at night to check on the progress:) I also have trouble keeping my hands out of the incubator :(

So, I have kind of lost track of time. If I put the eggs in the bator on a Friday morning, am I putting them into lockdown on Tuesday (tomorrow?) or Wednesday?

I have seen a few with humidity questions. My last hatch I had some problems with a borrowed incubator and my water container leaked during lockdown. I armed myself with a squirt bottle of warm/hot water and had one of my daughters work the door, and the other one fill a different container. Once the door was open, I quickly misted while my other daughter added water. There were three that had pipped. All ended up making it out and the others faired well too. It is a difficult decision whether or not to open during lockdown, but I figured with low humidity they wouldn't have a chance. Just sharing... for sure not by the book.
