HERE WE GO AGAIN Anyone SETTING Aug 30th - Sept 8th join me!!

Well, I guess the old saying "don't count your chickens until they hatch" seems to sure hold true here doesn't it? Out of two dozen eggs I started off with, I had 6 that hatched, and two more that quit. This morning I lost this little lavender beauty, so I am down to 5 now:

I hope the five I have left continue to thrive and will get to adulthood. They sure are beautiful!

Thanks all for the concerns. I just lost my Dad the 29th of August and then my kids' father just had a heart attack and is still in the hospital. I didn't want them driving in their upset state so I drove them.

I am so sorry to hear of both your losses. Prayers and positive thoughts being sent your way. It goes to show what a GREAT mom you are by helping your kids out in their time of need.

Today is going to be a GREAT day!!! Day 20 and I woke up to a pipped egg and I hear chirping!! Then I went outside to feed everyone this morning and one of my 7 week old BR chicks was trying to crow. He sounds so funny.
Well done!

I have had a bit of nightmare - Lastnight I miss filled the water dishes and the water went on to the floor of the incubator - humidty shot to 95%. I had to open and mop up. It took a while to come back down - now it is at 70%.

The good news is that two have pipped and one is chirping as of this morning. I am still nervous as not much seems to be happing. One had pipped last night and nothing more has happend. It has been 5 hrs since this one this morning pipped and again nothing more has happend.

How long does it take?

oh - the two that have pipped - have not broken through the membrane

I would try to bring the humidity down just a bit more. Low 60's if you can. Mine have taken anywhere from 12-24 hours from pip to hatch. The one that just hatched pipped around 6 am this morning and hatched about 6pm tonight. Congrats on the pips!!
