Here we go again - I'm hatching more goslings!!

Here are my buff dewlap babies, Flax, Barley & Hops.

Goosed, no worries there. With 10 developing, I would hope to be able to hatch 5 of them... which means I have an extra pair for you!!

I agree they were packaged well. I was surprised to see only one being fertile, and dug around to make sure the others weren't and I didn't just miss it. That tell tale white spot is pretty hard to miss though! My mail man is like 900 years old, and I'm sure he couldn't even read the big florescent labels she put on the boxes. Honestly, I don't even know how he can see the addresses on the mail. So, I'm sure it was tossed around or something. Who knows. Either way, I only had a 1 out of 3 chance for anything developing.

Erin, all three look very fertile, in that it has the dark blood red ring in center of egg (which is tell tale sign of development in upright, damaged air cell eggs). Am looking to see if the veining will show up in the upper clear liquid area now. If it will happen, I'll see it within the next 48 hours.

I'm not sure why your air cells are still damaged when you packaged them so well!! I wonder if googling nutrition or something like that for producing eggs would shed some light? Also, if they are 1st/2nd year birds, that may explain some of the problems?

Erin - I have one spider developing so far..... I googled, and do you know that giant geese (toulouse included) is usually around 20-40% fertility? Its not that your geese are neccessarily bad, its just harder to do a good job of fertilizing apparently.

I'm so happy for you Iain. Flax, Barley, and Hops. I wonder if they'll like beer?

Iain! The baby just turned to zip. Now that I know being back up is normal LOL. I expect this baby soon.
