Here we go again - I'm hatching more goslings!!

I understand how tiring it must be, this is my first geese I've ever raised and its not going so well.

Weird. It looks like the membrane has been punctured already around the beak from the pic??????

Gosh, I can't tell what is up in the latest picture. I simply do not have enough experience to guide you. I am here to support, but am going to let Celtic handle this.

It hasn't yet, its still covering its whole body. It is active and tries to move around, also it does blink. Not sure if they do that inside the egg or only when they hatch?

Oy vey. If this baby makes it, be very VERY grateful.

It wasn't ready to hatch, and hadn't turned to do so.

You need to use a pair of cuticle scissors to make a hole (SMALL) where the tip of the beak is and allow the nares to become free enough to start breathing without fear of the membrane closing over them. Dampen some gauze and place over the the membrane where the shell should still be to keep is moist. Then put that baby back and don't touch it again for ATLEAST 4 hours.

As long as they are able to breath on its own, leave it be. You can't do anything else at this point.

If I may add....and Celtic please correct me if this is not good advice!!

I used a sterile syringe needle (would think a sewing needle could work too) to extra carefully pierce inner membrane the way I would remove a splinter from finger. Then I can work the cuticle scissors into hole to cut.

In other news.... I am embarking on my LAST setting of season. I have 3 grey dewlaps from ebay, 4 grey dewlaps from my buff dewlap seller, and 2-3 eggs from Erin.... all being shipped out first thing tomorrow morning.

I have completely lost my mind!

Don't fight it honey. I've got 2 doz. ducks on an egg trade, button quail, Black Copper Marans eggs (only 6 though), maybe some americauna (maybe pure, i bid on them before talking to Celtic yesterday)..... I thought I was gonna take a break, then I ended up checking out ebay.
