Here we go again - I'm hatching more goslings!!

Welp, as of last night after stealing the eggs, I got 1 new grey babay this morning, 1 more has pipped and the others are still moving but are not close to hatching. I will turn them 3 times a day and see if they hatch. Keep your fingers crossed for me...

That puts me at: 2 Buffs 6 Greys so far.

No one answered my question: If the air sac moves all about the shell is the egg rotten? There looks to be something developing or developed but maybe they gave up? Not really stinking yet though... anyone? Thank you!

Thanks, Celtic. They all look to be doing well still, but no official internal pips yet. After this hatch, I have one single cayuga egg left in my bators. It is scheduled to hatch May 25th, if it makes it. I also have my buff gosling pair arriving then. Then, that's it. Bators are turned off. I agree it will be a relief to be done. I'm looking forward to enjoying watching them all grow up over the summer.

Congrats, Erin!! You got a perfect 25% color split per the charts we saw way back when. As for sloshy air cell, that does not sound good. You can try doing a float test to be sure, though.

I should have asked this 4 weeks ago...

I had a friend show up with duck and goose eggs to put in my incubator. I am currently hatching turkeys and chickens, but my hatching guide said they could all go in at the same temp and humidity. It's now hatching time, and the ducks are doing OK. His eggs had a low fertility rate after I candled them all, but the duck eggs he gave me are pipped and seem to be doing fine. No pips on the goose eggs. Do they need more time, or do they need different parameters. I seem to be holding steady at about 100.5 deg, and 58% humidity (I have a hatching tray in my incubator, so my hatches are sharing space with the ones incubating)

I candled all the eggs and removed the duds, so these goose eggs developed, just hoping that they hatch. And don't ask me the breed. This guy left the country and made his wife bring over the eggs, and she knows nothing about their breeds! So I at least know the ducks aren't Muscovies, because they are pipping at day 25!

Anything I need to know, in case he brings me more if these don't hatch at all? I've succesfully hatched my own ducks, turkeys and chicks all in the same bator with the same settings...

I have another buff hatching, it has externally pipped and made a nice size hole, but now it is doing nothing but quacking. I peeled back part of the shell and it looks like it could be sucked into the white lining but it is still moist. I am so scared not to open all the way in fear of a bleed out if it is not done cooking, it has not been 24hrs yet since it externally pipped. Should I just let it go for now? Wrap a wet paper towel around it what? It is in a still air incubator, so it does not seem to be drying out....HELP!!

hope its ok

Erin, if the inside membrane is shrunk onto the baby, since you have peeled a small hole you can dampen membrane with warm wet tip, or try to mist it with warm water. Get humidity up to 80%. If you can take a pic, it may help.

But before you posted I was freaking out so I went ahead and started breaking the shell off, no wonder the baby could no get out.............THAT SHELL WAS THE STRONGEST SHELL I HAVE EVER SEEN!!

I mean that sucker was THICK! Anyway I broke it off and it stretched its neck out and looked up at me... Then I peeled it off its back and in my hand it kicked the rest of the shell off. Everything was closed up, thank goodness.
