Here we go again - I'm hatching more goslings!!

well in his guide which was published in backyard poultry magazine this month it says .5 degrees Celsius, which is 32 degrees Fahrenheit lol 1 degree to 98 makes more sense Im going to look at the one on here, air cell is growing right on target and egg lost 5% this past 7 days

it should have said to "drop it .5 degrees" not "to .5" OH MY I hope thats not what people do
ep.gif
talk about typos that can makie a HUGE differents

It dOes say that! But .5 degrees celcius is 32 degrees Fahrenheit according to conversion chart. See that's why I don't make a move with this precious egg with out checking with you guys on this thread! I need a sebbie goosie baby and I don't want to wait till next year.(impatient):D

OMG! Glad you double checked those numbers! LOL, its funny how a type can work out isn't it???

My baby geese are doing well.

Good luck finding sebbie eggs now, its a bit late in the season for them. Maybe someone up north is still in eggs.

I've got my last sebbie eggs from sombody in my bator now. Only one was fertile though. She was very fertile early in the season, but things have changed.

Here are my day 14 weights....worried about the ones that aren't losing enough.......what do I do with those? Is it too late to fix the problem?

Right now I have been cooling for 10 minutes a day.....should I be misting them now?

How should I be doing it now that I have ones that are so off from each other? See if I can borrow another incubator?

Going back through the info that I have printed off from Pete's guide and his posts here and at the other forum says that for eggs not losing enought weight (which most of mine aren't losing enough) that I should continue with dry incubation, vents opened to maximum and rigourous daily cooling........so, my humidity has been about 35% give or take since I started......should this be lower? And, rigourous daily cooling........is ten minutes once a day enough, or should I be doing it 15 or 20 minutes a day, and should I do it once or twice or more a day??

Thanks.

If you retread the guide, it will talk about extending the cooling time weekly. 10 min is looking like not enough for you, so increasing would be the answer.

The guide also says drop by .5 not drop to .5c

Bayjay! You are halfway there! Woo hoo! First thing.... did you wind up seeing spiders in all eggs but one? If not, toss the eggs that are not developing. Bad eggs can explode in your bator if left cooking, which can ruin your good eggs.

Also on day 14 candling.... check your eggs that are propped up for air cell movement. They should start stabilizing so that you can lay those eggs down. If you want to run two bators and feel like doing the drive, you can come get my extra bator.

Iain.....I have laid down all my eggs as of this morning except for number 2.......it seems like it is behind the others.....looks like SOMEthing is growing in there but it is NOTHING like my others--just seems like it is a slow developer....not sure if I should toss it or not. My number three got tossed this morning because there was NOTHING in it except for yolk.....we even opened it up to look, and looked just like a normal egg bought in the store, though bigger. And, not only do I see spiders in the rest....I see MOVEMENT.....one egg had less movement than the others, but all 8 of the others have DEFINITE movement--it was like movie night this morning......I watched each one for a minute or so. So exciting, though I am scared of the end. I still am questionable on lockdown and all that comes with the end..............

So.....extend my cooling to 20 mins once a day...and drop humidity to...............?

I just went and tossed number 2......I went and traced all my air sacs and decided that one was not doing anything. So, I am down to 9.

Good you tossed the other egg. You want to focus on the strong eggs that are doing well. Do you still have both vent holes closed? If so, open one.
